ADULT SITE SURFER HELP

This Page was last updated on: Saturday, August 09, 2004

There are too many dishonest companies on the web today and the government is taking action against them, but too slowly. This page is not an advertisement! This page has been composed due to the overwhelming emails and complaints that I have heard in regards to browser hijackers, trojans, ad-ware and spyware.

There is even a growing number of posts and complaints of this happening to adult webmasters and the weird thing is that a good percentage of them seem to have no idea where it came from, nor how to remove or protect themselves from these attacks. When in fact they really need to review their sponsors because this is where they are getting these attacks from. I can not explain how awful my partner and I felt upon learning that we had been using one of these sponsors and the possibility that we may have infected other innocent surfers computers with a browser hijacker.

It was at this time that we started to look very closely into our sponsors and I quickly sent an email message to the company asking that I be removed from their system. We set aside a few hours each day to go through all of our sponsors and do a complete reevaluation of each one of them at a time by checking into their backgrounds, reviewing each of their sites individually, clicking on links to ensure that they where being honest not only to us, but more importantly to YOU! Hell yes we are in this business to make a buck, but not at the expense of causing our surfers grief and sorrow and crashing your machine. We want to make an honest living without redirecting your machine to some pop up nightmare or setting your home page to one that you do not wish to have. Thus the creation of this page, to help you detect, remove and report these cheating bastards. OK, so enough of the explanation, now on to the help.

By the way, I use all of these methods on ALL of my machines.

  • Make sure to keep your operating system and browser up to date. If you use a Microsoft product then you can check your system for updates here.
  • Use a good anti-virus and firewall program! Remember, you get what you pay for. The free products are not going to protect you and they are usually in a beta form using you for a testing lab. I use and suggest McAfee products. I am not so certain as to the online software however. Shop around, many times I have been able to find the latest version of their products with a very reasonable rebate, bringing the cost down considerably. Their firewall and anti-virus work very well together.
  • Having a anti-spyware and adware defense is a must! Even with the protection of a firewall and anti-virus software these scumbags slip in. In this case the product that I use and strongly recommend is Spybot S&D. It is a free download! You can download your copy here.
  • If you already think that you have a GOOD ad/spyware remover be sure to check out this list of bogus software here.
